Meals Provided : We provide breakfast, lunch and snacks.  CDC has registered nutritionists on staff who plan menus for the centers with good nutrition and cultural sensitivities in mind.  Students with specific health and/or dietary requirements are accommodated to the best of our abilities.  Our nutritionists are mindful of nutritional challenges that face families and have established guidelines for centers that build a healthy environment for the children and the staff.  That environment includes a foundation for developing a positive attitude toward food, understanding the importance of good nutrition, forming healthy eating habits and the importance of daily exercise.  Staff work with the families to assure that your child is getting the appropriate nutrition.

Program Information :

Our school readiness program for preschool age children, Growing Readers, is a research supported and literacy based curriculum, developed by the High/Scope Foundation.  Our curriculum provides opportunities for your child to grow in social, physical and cognitive skills that she or he will need to be ready for kindergarten.  Foundational activities in literacy, math, science, social studies and self help skills are planned daily.  The staff collaborates with the kindergarten teachers on campus to support a seamless transition for your child and your family into elementary school.

When you observe one of our programs, you will see children working in a home-like environment with a daily routine that provides a balance of child initiated activities and teacher directed activities ranging from arts and crafts, construction and blocks, science, literacy and math, cooking and gardening.  You will see children working individually and in small or large groups.  We provide a balance of inside and outside activities. There is flexibility in our routine to accommodate the emerging interests that the children bring to the program.  This supports our belief that children are competent and able to adapt to changes in their environment and routine when supported by caring, trusting adults.  The High/Scope framework allows children to plan, participate in and review their daily experiences.

In our school age program, in addition to fun, recreational activities, we work in cooperation with parents and the elementary school faculty to assist children with their homework, their special projects and individual academic needs.  Our goal is to partner with your child and your family in supporting your child's academic success.

Our comprehensive program for children ages 3 through 12 years supports and emphasizes the growth of the whole child.  We are like a part of your family.

At CDI/CDC, we believe that children grow by pursuing their interests and trying new things. That's why Camp CDC offers hands-on 1 or 2 week single subject focused experiences around the exciting topics kids love such as Art, Cooking, Crafts, Drama, Science, and Sports. Our small group format, filled with eye opening experiences, provides a creative, educational opportunity for Campers to spread their wings and try new things. Along with new activities based on their chosen subject, Campers also enjoy traditional camp activities like games, songs, and skills; along with crafts, guest visitors, and exciting field trips. Each week offers campers a choice to focus on a popular topic.
